The United Nations condemned a terrorist attack in Nigeria’s Kwara State that killed at least 170 people and called for those responsible to be brought to justice.

UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said Secretary-General António Guterres expressed condolences and urged accountability for the perpetrators.

The attack marked the deadliest in the region in recent months, amid escalating violence targeting civilians in Nigeria’s northwest and north-central areas. The worsening security situation has also intensified the humanitarian crisis, fueling displacement and hunger.
