The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) was closed to traffic on Tuesday following fresh snowfall in and around the Navyug Tunnel. No vehicular movement is being permitted from Jammu to Srinagar or vice versa.
Besides NH-44, other major routes including the Mughal Road, Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri (SSG) Road and the Sinthan Road are already closed due to adverse weather and unsafe road conditions.
Authorities have advised the public to avoid travelling on these routes until the roads are restored and declared safe for vehicular movement.
Commuters have also been cautioned against believing rumours and urged to rely only on official traffic advisories.
Flight operations at Srinagar Airport were also affected due to continuous snowfall. In a social media post, Srinagar Airport authorities said the runway was not available for safe aircraft operations, leading to the cancellation of all flights to and from Srinagar for the day.
The Airport and airline authorities said they are closely monitoring the weather conditions and flight operations will resume once the runway is cleared and declared operational. Passengers have been advised to check the latest flight status with their respective airlines and stay updated through official communication channels. Authorities expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and sought passengers’ cooperation.
