In compliance with the orders of the Central Government, Shatrujeet Kapur, has assumed charge as the Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) with effect from 19 January 2026.
He took over the charge from Praveen Kumar, who has been appointed as the Director General, Border Security Force (BSF).
The baton was formally handed over during a brief ceremonial event held at ITBP Headquarters.
Shatrujeet Kapur, a 1990 batch IPS officer (Haryana Cadre) held several important assignments in his parent cadre of Haryana, including Director General of Police and Head of the Police Force, Director General of the State Anti Corruption Bureau; Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of the two Haryana Power Distribution Companies (UHBVN & DHBVN); and Chief of CID and Head of the State Crime Branch, among others.
Over a distinguished career spanning more than 35 years, he has also served in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission (UNMIK), Kosovo, and in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
In recognition of his exemplary service, he has been decorated with the UN Peacekeeping Medal with Bar, the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
