Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has called for unity, peace, and mutual respect as key to the development of Nagaland.

Speaking on the second day of the 70th Ao Students’ General Conference at Chungtia Village today, he emphasized that citizens of the state must set aside divisions and work collectively to achieve progress under the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

He urged the people work together with a collective wisdom to unite so that peace prevails. Rio emphasized that once the state is united, all issues will be resolved, calling it the need of the hour.

On education, the Chief Minister noted that Nagaland now ranks third in the country for literacy with 95.7 percent. However, he said mere literacy was not enough, and stressed the need for specialized knowledge.

Highlighting that around 92 percent lack technical and vocational skills, and needed specialization, he encouraged the people not to be complacent, but to carry forward and compete in the age of excellence.

Highlighting the Conference theme ‘Strengthening Horizons’, CM Rio called for unity across roles, generations, and viewpoints through renewed dialogue, mutual respect, and cooperation rooted in shared wisdom and vision.

The Chief Minister urged the younger generation to lead with confidence and humility, building on the legacy of their forefathers to shape a future of progress.

The three-day conference commenced on Tuesday. Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) S. Supongmeren Jamir in his address on the inaugural, emphasised humility as a key quality of leadership.

He called upon students to remain focused, and make God the foundation of their lives. Encouraging self-discovery and perseverance, he urged students to understand themselves, explore their potential, and work through challenges until their goals are achieved.

Stressing the importance of introspection, MP Jamir highlighted the need to have a clear objective in life to succeed.

He also noted that in today’s highly competitive world, one must strive for the top, emphasising on consistent effort and sustained focus.
