India Open Badminton: Srikanth, Prannoy, Bansod advance; Sindhu losses

In the Yonex-Sunrise India Open Badminton tournament, former world number one Kidambi Srikanth secured a hard-fought victory over fellow Indian Tharun Mannepalli by 15-21, 21-6, and 21-19 in the Men’s Singles round of 32. HS Prannoy also defeated Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong 22-20, 21-18 in his opening round clash.

However, in Women’s Singles, former world champion PV Sindhu lost to Thuy Linh Nguyen of Vietnam 22-20, 12-21, 15-21 in a round of 64 match.

Malvika Bansod of India beat Pai Yo Po of Chinese Taipei 21-19 21-19 in round of 32 match. Indian duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty got a walk over in the Men’s Double round of 32.
