Vice President addresses students at the convocation ceremony of the Lovely Professional University at Phagwara

Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan has said, the nation has set an ambitious yet achievable target of building a developed, self-reliant and confident Bharat. Radhakrishnan was speaking at the convocation ceremony of the Lovely Professional University at Phagwara near Jalandhar in Punjab yesterday.

The Vice President said, India is working to become a global superpower, not to dictate terms to smaller countries, nor to be dictated by others. He said we all are equal and human beings and must work to serve humanity as a whole.

Speaking on the growing menace of drug abuse, Radhakrishnan said it is a matter of grave concern. He called upon students not only to say no to drugs but also to help prevent their friends from falling into this menace, adding that such efforts would be a significant contribution to society.

The Vice President also lauded the university’s role during ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Earlier, addressing the students, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria said, the educational institution not only provides students with quality knowledge but also fosters their overall development, preparing them to become responsible citizens of the country.

Vice President Radhakrishnan and former UK Prime Minister Mary Elizabeth Truss, who was the special guest at the event, presented degrees to the students.
