Jaishankar Boosts India-France Ties in Paris Meetings

External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar met with members of the India-France Parliamentary Friendship Group, highlighting the growing depth and maturity of the bilateral partnership.

During the discussions, Minister Jaishankar expressed India’s heartfelt gratitude for France’s steadfast support in combating terrorism, specifically thanking French leaders and lawmakers for their backing during ‘Operation Sindoor’.

The talks centered on strengthening bilateral ties, with a focus on defence and security cooperation, strategic coordination, and increased parliamentary engagement. Both sides also explored opportunities to expand collaboration in trade and investment, clean energy, climate action, technology, and innovation, while reaffirming a shared commitment to a rules-based international order, strategic autonomy, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

Later, the External Affairs Minister met with the Director-General of UNESCO, reflecting India’s growing engagement with the organization.

During the visit, he paid tribute at the bust of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and visited the Wall of Peace at UNESCO headquarters. The visit underscored India’s dedication to the values of peace, equality, justice, and multilateralism, as well as its active role in UNESCO initiatives in education, culture, heritage conservation, and sustainable development.
