Odisha’s Chilika Lake, Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon and India’s biggest waterbird habitat, is witnessing the arrival of thousands of migratory birds from across the globe.

To celebrate the seasonal spectacle, the 6th National Chilika Bird Festival will be held from 6-8 January 2026. The three-day event aims to highlight the lake’s rich biodiversity and promote eco-tourism in the region.

Visitors and bird enthusiasts will get an opportunity to observe nearly 200 species of birds, including several migratory and endangered species. The festival will also feature nature trails, bird-watching tours, exhibitions, and awareness programmes focusing on conservation of wetlands and wildlife.
