The United States carried out an airstrike against Islamic State terrorists in Nigeria on Christmas night.
US President Donald Trump said in a social media post that American forces conducted deadly strikes against ISIS terrorists in northwestern Nigeria and vowed more such attacks if the group continues killing Christians. He hailed the US military for executing what he described as “numerous perfect strikes.”

The strike comes after Trump warned that Christianity faces an “existential threat” in Nigeria and threatened military intervention in the West African country over what he said was its failure to stop violence targeting Christian communities.
The US military’s Africa Command said the strike was carried out in Sokoto state at the request of Nigerian authorities and resulted in the killing of multiple ISIS terrorists.
US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth also praised his department’s readiness to take action in Nigeria, saying he was “grateful for Nigerian government support and cooperation.”
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s foreign ministry said the strikes were conducted as part of ongoing security cooperation with the United States, involving intelligence sharing and strategic coordination to target ISIS.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said “Nigerian authorities remain engaged in structured security cooperation with international partners, including the United States of America, to address the persistent threat of terrorism and violent extremism.”
