Tanzania Heli Crash: Five died during a medical rescue operation

Five people died when a Tanzania Helicopter crashed in mount Kilimanjaro. The mishap happened on Thursday, when the helicopter team was a on medical rescue operation, according to a Reuters news.

The Tanzania National Park authority said the deceased include two Tanzania nationals, one doctor and one guide; one Zimbabwean pilot and two tourists from Czech Republic.

The aircraft was an Airbus Helicopter H125 operated by KiliMedAir Aviation.

The Mount Kilimanjaro is the Africa’s peak with an altitude of 6,000 metres (20,000 ft). According to the local daily news paper Mwananchi, the accident happened at around 4,670 to 4,700 metres.

Annually around 50,000 trekkers and tourists climb mount Kilimanjaro.
