Vice President C P Radhakrishnan attended the annual Christmas celebrations organised by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India in New Delhi yesterday evening. West Bengal Governor Dr C V Ananda Bose was also present on the occasion.
The Vice-President said that Christmas is a celebration of universal values such as peace, compassion, humility and service to humanity.
He noted that the message of love, harmony and moral courage taught by Lord Jesus Christ has timeless relevance and resonates deeply with India’s spiritual traditions.
Recalling the long presence of Christianity in India, he highlighted the significant contribution of the Christian community to India’s social and developmental journey, particularly in education, healthcare and social service.
Emphasizing India’s pluralistic ethos, the Vice-President said that the spirit of Christmas reflects the vision of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat and urged continued collective efforts towards the goal of Viksit Bharat@2047.
Governor of West Bengal, Dr. C. V. Ananda Bose; President, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI), Archbishop Andrews Thazhath; Apostolic Nuncio to India, Archbishop Leopold Girelli, and other dignitaries were also present at the occasion.
