Kanyakumari Lok Sabha MP Vijay Kumar alias Vijay Vasanth, has moved an adjournment motion in the House seeking a discussion today on the IndiGo flight crisis, accusing the Government of failing to act despite knowing the airline was heading for an operational breakdown.
More than 1,000 flights were cancelled over a week without warning, leaving lakhs of passengers stranded. MP alleged that the Government and DGCA had prior information about rostering and operational issues but waited until the situation collapsed before stepping in.
Vijay Vasanth also criticised the sharp rise in airfares by other airlines during the crisis and called the Government’s delayed response a serious neglect of public duty.
He urged Parliament to hold the Government accountable for failing to protect passengers.
