The Nation celebrates Navy Day today. This year, the Navy Day is being celebrated with a spectacular Operational Demonstration at Shangumugham beach in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

President Droupadi Murmu graced the Navy Day-2025 celebrations and witnessed the operational demonstration by the Indian Navy at Thiruvananthapuram.
The President said that by securing sea routes, protecting marine resources, preventing illegal activities, and supporting maritime research, the Indian Navy strengthens our vision of safe, prosperous, and sustainable oceans.
The day is celebrated on the 4th of December every year to recognise the achievements and role of the Indian Navy.

It was on this day in 1971, during Operation Trident, that the Indian Navy sank four Pakistani vessels, including PNS Khaibar.

The event will showcase the Navy’s operational platforms, and its resolve as the ‘Preferred Security Partner’ in the Indian Ocean Region, guided by the broader vision of the MAHASAGAR initiative.

The Operational Demonstration will feature coordinated manoeuvres by frontline platforms symbolising the Navy’s ability to deliver power and precision across the maritime spectrum.
