Parliament’s Winter Session begins; 10 bills listed

The Winter Session of Parliament begins today, with 10 key bills slated for passage. The legislative agenda includes the National Highways (Amendment) Bill, Atomic Energy Bill, Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, Insurance Laws (Amendment) Bill and the Higher Education Commission of India Bill, 2025.

In the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will introduce three bills on the first day — the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025, the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill and the Health Security and National Security Cess Bill, 2025 — for consideration and passing.

In the Rajya Sabha, members will take oath, after which Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav will move a Statutory Resolution for the adoption of the “Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Act, 2024” in the State of Manipur.

The Winter Session will have 15 sittings over 19 days, with the government expressing readiness to take up issues raised by political parties as per parliamentary rules. Leaders across parties have assured cooperation for smooth functioning of both Houses.
