A forest fire sweeping through the Baktoor forests of Gurez entered its fifth consecutive day on Monday, continuing to threaten the dense forest belt of the region.
Teams from the Forest Department, the Indian Army, and local volunteers are working tirelessly to contain the blaze and stop it from spreading to adjoining compartments.
Despite challenging terrain and persistently dry weather, coordinated efforts on the ground have helped limit damage. Firefighting teams remain deployed at critical locations, and operations are ongoing to bring the fire under full control.
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and cooperate with officials and volunteers engaged in firefighting efforts as operations continue.
