Cyclonic Storm Ditwah Moves Across Sri Lanka Toward North Tamil Nadu

Cyclonic Storm Ditwah over coastal Sri Lanka and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal has moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 13 kmph. It is very likely to continue to move north-northwest across the Sri Lankan Coast and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal and move towards North Tamilnadu and adjoining South Andhra Coasts this morning.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the Sea, and those who are at Sea have been asked to avoid the Southwest Bay of Bengal, the Gulf of Mannar and the Comorin area till December 1st.

Local warning Signal Number 4 has been hoisted at Pamban, Thoothukudi, Nagapattinam and Karaikal Ports, while Distant warning signal two has been hoisted at Chennai and Cuddalore Ports.

Heavy rains have been predicted in some places in the delta districts. Other coastal districts in North Tamil Nadu are said to receive heavy rains in the next 3 days.
