India’s boxers Nikhat Zareen and Jaismine Lamboria led the country’s gold rush as its pugilists finished with 20 medals, including nine gold, six silver, and five bronze, at the World Boxing Cup Finals at Greater Noida.

Reigning women’s 48-kg world champion Minakshi Hooda registered the first gold for India after beating Uzbekistan’s Fozilova Farzona in Greater Noida.

Zareen and Lamboria set the tone for the evening session. Nikhat dominated Chinese Taipei’s Yi-Xuan Guo 5-0 by unanimous decision in the 51-kg women’s final, before Jaismine beat Wu Shih-yi in the 57-kg boxing title decider by a 4-1 margin.

All 20 Indian boxers who competed in the five-day season-ender competition managed a podium finish.

The Indian women boxers ruled the show, winning seven of the 10 possible gold medals, while the men managed two.
