The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has confirmed that its national team will continue the ongoing cricket tour of Pakistan as scheduled, dismissing speculation of withdrawal after a suicide bombing rocked Islamabad on Tuesday.

Team officials clarified that no Sri Lankan player is returning home, and replacements would be arranged only if any individual opted out.

The SLC said players were reassured following consultations with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and law enforcement agencies.

Several Sri Lankan cricketers who are currently in Pakistan for the 3-match ODI series have requested to return home, citing safety concerns.

Pakistan had been struggling with security concerns and inviting nations to play Cricket at their home grounds. In 2009, a bus carrying Sri Lankan cricketers was attacked in Lahore, injuring six players.

Local media reports added that security around the team has been further tightened. Pakistan had won the first match in the series by 6 runs, with the second game scheduled to be played at Rawalpindi tomorrow.
