Bihar is witnessing voting for the first phase of polling across 121 constituencies in the 243-seat assembly. By 3:00 PM IST, around 53.77% voter turnout has been recorded. Approximately 3.75 crore voters are participating in this phase, which will decide the fate of 1,314 candidates across 18 districts.

The key issues shaping the electoral battle include unemployment, outmigration, corruption, and the decline of education and healthcare.

Thursday’s voting will determine the prospects of several high-profile candidates, including RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Mangal Pandey, and JD(U)’s Shravan Kumar and Vijay Kumar Choudhary. Tej Pratap Yadav, who has floated his own party, is also contesting from the Mahua constituency.

Voting for the second phase is scheduled for November 11, while counting of votes will take place on November 14.
