SIR likely to be announced in many states: EC

The Central Election Commission has organized an important press conference on Sunday at 4.15 pm.

According to sources, after Bihar, the SIR process may be announced in other states of the country as well. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar may initially announce a program for re-verification of voters from November 1 in the states where elections are to be held in 2026.

In a circular dated June 24, the Commission had said that in the last 20 years, there has been a large-scale migration due to reasons including urbanization, employment, education and due to which the data needs to be updated.
