President Droupadi Murmu participated in Chhath Puja celebrations in the President’s Estate where devotees offered Arghya to the setting Sun. The President prayed for the well-being and prosperity of fellow citizens.

The devotional Chhath Puja is one of the most sacred, ancient, and eco-friendly Hindu festivals, mostly celebrated in  Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Nepal.

It is a four-day festival dedicated to Surya Dev (the Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya (Goddess Usha, Surya’s sister and the Goddess of the Sixth Day).

The festival is a celebration of devotion, purity, and gratitude, where people thank the Sun God for sustaining life on Earth and seek blessings for the well-being, prosperity, and longevity of their family and children.
