IMD Forecasts Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunderstorms, gusty winds and lightning over Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal over the next two days.

The Met Department also predicted heavy rainfall over Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka today.

The IMD said, squally weather with wind speed gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail along and off Kerala, Karnataka coasts and adjoining sea areas, Lakshadweep, Comorin areas, along and off Tamilnadu and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts.

The IMD has predicted heavy rain in the eight southern districts of Kerala. An orange alert has been issued for Ernakulam district in Kerala and the Lakshadweep Islands on Friday, warning of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Seven other districts in Kerala are under a yellow alert for isolated heavy rain. On Saturday, a yellow alert will be in place in eight of the state’s 14 districts.
