The Indian Air Force celebrated its 93rd Air Force Day on Wednesday at Hindon Air Base, marking nearly a century of service, discipline, and operational excellence.
Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, inspected the guard of honour and took salute during the celebrations.
He praised the air warriors for making history in every era, highlighting their contributions during the 1948, 1971, and 1999 wars, as well as operations in Balakot and the recent Operation Sindoor, India’s response to Pakistan-based terrorist infrastructure following the Pahalgam attack in April.
The celebrations included a grand parade, flypasts, and demonstrations of India’s advanced air capabilities. Indigenous systems such as the Netra AEW&C, Akash Surface-to-Air Missile, Rohini radar, Apache attack helicopters, and Advanced Light Helicopters were showcased.
A special tribute was paid to the MiG-21 Bison, retired after more than six decades of service, including its role in Operation Sindoor.
Air Chief Marshal AP Singh also emphasized the IAF’s role in humanitarian operations, citing recent relief efforts in Uttarkashi, Punjab, and Myanmar, reaffirming the dual role of the force in combat and disaster response.
Earlier, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, and Air Chief Marshal AP Singh paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial, laying wreaths in honour of their service.
While the parade took place at Hindon, the flypast is scheduled in Guwahati in mid-November.
