The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday rejected the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) request to remove match referee Andy Pycroft from officiating in the ongoing Asia Cup.

The PCB had lodged a formal complaint, alleging that Pycroft instructed Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha that therewill be no shake hands with Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav during the toss.

In an official response, the ICC clarified that the no-handshake instruction came from on-ground officials of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), not Pycroft himself. The global body has deemed the matter resolved.

On Wednesday the match between Pakistan and UAE wasdelayed by an hour because of the clarification of the confusion.

The clarification is expected to ease tensions between the PCB and tournament organizers amid an already high-stakes competition.
