The 24-year-old defeated Kazakhstan’s Nazym Kyzaibay, a bronze medalist at the Paris Olympics, with a 4-1 score. This victory was a rematch of the World Cup final held earlier this year in Astana, where Kyzaibay had emerged victorious.
Hooda’s win marks a significant achievement in her boxing career and for Indian boxing.
Adding to India’s success, Nupur Sheoran won silver in the women’s 80kg plus division, while Pooja Rani earned a bronze medal, highlighting a strong overall performance by Indian boxers at the event.
