England wins the 3rd ODI match by record 342 runs over South Africa in Southampton, today. It was the biggest win ever in terms of runs. Earlier the record was in the name of India. Men in blues were having the record with a margin of 317 runs against Sri Lanka in 2023.
Winning the toss South Africa chose to bowl first. England scored massive 414 runs for 5 wickets, courtesy Joe Root (100) and Jacob Bethell (110). Jos Buttler and Jamie Smith played their part with scoring half century each.
Particularly Buttler was attacking the bowlers and got 62 off 32. Fast bowler Nandre Buger was on the firing point, remained expensive 95 runs from his 10 overs.
Chasing a mammoth total, the Proteos unable capitalize on scoring rates and lost wickets in regular and swift intervals. They all out for meagre 72 runs in 20.5 overs. Timba Bavuma was unable to bat as he was injured in the match.
For England Fast bowler Jofra Archer was fast and furious with bowling figure of 4/18. Abdul Rashid also got excellent figure of 3/13.
For the magnificent century Joe Root was adjudged as the player of the match.
However South Africa won the ODI series 2-1.
