Streets in Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture were flooded on Saturday as Typhoon Peipah moved along the country’s east coast, bringing strong winds and heavy rain in central Japan.

In Kamakura, at least 220 buildings were damaged as fierce winds ripped tiles from rooftops, toppled utility poles, and caused widespread disruptions.

Local authorities reported that in Yaizu City, a powerful gust blew away an agricultural greenhouse, severely injuring a farmer who sustained a facial fracture.

According to the Shizuoka prefectural government, six homes were completely destroyed and 34 others partially damaged.

Japan’s Meteorological Agency has warned of further torrential rain and dangerous winds as dense rain clouds continue to cover the region.
