Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio gave credit to the tireless efforts of teachers for Nagaland’s remarkable achievement of attaining 95.7% literacy, making it the third most literate state in the country. He was ddressing the State Level Teachers’ Day celebration at the NBCC Convention Hall, Kohima.

He said teachers have been the driving force behind this progress, nurturing generations with knowledge, values, and vision.

Dr. Rio appealed to teachers to continue fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and compassion among students so they grow into responsible citizens, capable leaders, and good human beings.

On behalf of himself and the state government, he saluted and extended greetings to every teacher across Nagaland, expressing gratitude for their invaluable service in inspiring hope and transforming lives.

He reminded that Teachers’ Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan — one of India’s most illustrious philosophers, educationists, and statesmen, and the second President of India — who believed that teachers should be the best minds in the country.

Rio said society today pays tribute to the noble profession that shapes the future by shaping children.
