Yamuna Crosses Danger Mark in Delhi; NDRF Evacuates people from Low-Lying Areas

The water level of the Yamuna river in Delhi has crossed the danger mark. It continuously rose throughout the day due to moderate to heavy rainfall in the national capital.

As per the latest information, the water level of the river near the old iron bridge has risen to 207.39 meters. The old iron bridge has been closed for traffic.

Along with this, the water level has also risen at Yamuna Bazaar, Mayur Vihar, Geeta Colony and Majnu ka Tila. As a precaution, people living in low-lying areas are being rescued and shifted to safer places.

So far the National Disaster Response Force-NDRF has rescued five people in Yamuna Bazaar, Najafgarh and Jaitpur.

Six hundred twenty six people have been moved to safer places and thirteen animals have also been rescued.

NDRF Deputy Inspector General Mohsin Shahidi said that four NDRF teams have been deployed on the banks of the Yamuna river and the evacuation work has been started.
