Israeli airstrikes hit the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Sunday, just two days after Houthi militants launched a hypersonic ballistic missile at Tel Aviv.
According to the Israeli military, the strikes targeted multiple sites, including a military compound housing the presidential palace, two power plants, and a fuel storage facility. Houthi-controlled media reported that the airstrikes killed at least two people and injured five others.
The casualties were reported at the Oil Company Station, a gas station operated by the Houthi-controlled Yemeni Petroleum Company.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed that an air operation had been carried out in Yemen. Israeli state broadcaster Kan TV reported that 14 warplanes participated in the strike, releasing around 40 bombs in the area.
These strikes are part of a broader pattern of hostilities that have escalated over the past year between Israel and Houthi forces, fueled by the ongoing Gaza conflict.
Following the airstrikes, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a security cabinet meeting to assess the situation.
