The facility of translation in all 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution is now available in the House. This was informed by the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in the lower house on Tuesday.
Birla said, “Today is an extremely historic and proud day in the history of Indian democracy. The facility of translation in all 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution is now available in the House. This is not merely a technical achievement but a celebration of India’s remarkable linguistic diversity and cultural unity.”
“Until now, this facility was available in 18 languages besides Hindi and English. With the inclusion of Kashmiri, Konkani, and Santhali languages, the House has truly become a living symbol of “the voice of India. This moment is not only a matter of pride but also conveys the message that India’s strength lies in its diversity, where countless languages and dialects come together as one to strengthen democracy,” he said.
