NDA’s C. P. Radhakrishnan Set to File VP Nomination in Parliament today

The NDA Vice-Presidential nominee, C. P. Radhakrishnan, will file his nomination today in Parliament in front of P C Mody, Secretary General of Rajya Sabha, who the Election Commission appoints as the Returning Officer.

A seasoned BJP leader from Tamil Nadu with an RSS background, Radhakrishnan will file his nomination with around 160 members expected to be present, including 20 proposers and 20 supporters.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced Radhakrishnan to NDA MPs at a Parliamentary Board meeting on August 19, 2025.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be Radhakrishnan’s campaign manager, while Union Minister Kiren Rijiju will serve as his election agent.

Radhakrishnan brings extensive experience to the table, having served as a Member of Parliament and as Governor of various states, including Jharkhand, Telangana, and Maharashtra.

The INDIA bloc has nominated B Sudershan Reddy as the VP candidate. The Election for the Vice President will be on 9 September.
