Kishtwar Cloudburst: Death Toll Hits 60, Rescue Efforts on

167 people have been rescued with injuries, while 69 others were reported missing by their relatives

The rescue operation has been intensified in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district after a massive cloudburst to retrieve bodies from the debris.

The death toll in the tragic incident has risen to 60, with an unspecified number of people still trapped.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday and assured them of all possible help.

Disaster struck Chisoti, the last motorable village on the way to the Machail Mata temple, on Thursday, leaving a trail of death and destruction. In addition, 167 people have been rescued with injuries, while 69 others were reported missing by their relatives.
