Indian wushu player Namrata Batra created history on Tuesday by becoming the first-ever Indian to win a medal in Wushu at the World Games in Chengdu, China.

Competing in the women’s 52kg category, Namrata secured the silver medal after falling to her Chinese opponent in the final bout.

Her historic achievement was sealed when she defeated the Philippines’ Krizan Faith Collado 2-0 in the semi-finals, ensuring India’s maiden World Games medal in Wushu.
