Kaja Kallas, head of the EU diplomatic service, has called a meeting of EU foreign ministers to discuss the upcoming Russia-U.S. summit on Ukraine.
On Sunday, Kallas emphasized that any agreement between Washington and Moscow to end the conflict in Ukraine must include both Ukraine and the EU. She announced that the meeting of European foreign ministers will be held virtually on Monday afternoon to discuss the next steps. The ministers will also review recent developments in the Middle East and Gaza.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has secured diplomatic support from Europe and NATO ahead of this week’s Russia-U.S. summit.
Zelensky stated that any decisions made without Ukraine’s involvement would be “stillborn” and unworkable. On Saturday, leaders of Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Finland, and the European Commission reaffirmed that any diplomatic solution must safeguard the security interests of Ukraine and Europe.
