The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) team from the 17th Battalion successfully rescued 413 pilgrims along the Kinner Kailash Yatra route in Himachal Pradesh, where a flash flood washed away a large part of the trekking path, leaving hundreds of pilgrims stranded.
The rescue operation is being carried out by 1 Gazetted Officer, 4 Subordinate Officers, and 29 Other Ranks of ITBP, in coordination with one team of 14 NDRF. By using the rope-based traverse crossing technique, the ITBP team evacuated the pilgrims to safer locations.
On receiving a distress call from the Kinnaur District Administration this morning about more stranded pilgrims, ITBP and NDRF search & rescue teams were again mobilized to the site and are continuing the operations.
