Both houses are set to take up significant legislative business and reports during the monsoon session of the Indian Parliament today.

In the Rajya Sabha (Upper House), reports of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees on Finance and Energy will be presented. The House is also scheduled to take up the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2025, which aims to define the responsibilities, liabilities, rights, and immunities of carriers with the carriage of goods by sea.

Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha (Lower House) will consider two key bills. The first is The Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill, 2024, which deals with changes in constituency representation for Scheduled Tribes in Goa.

The second is the Merchant Shipping Bill, 2024, which seeks to consolidate and amend laws related to merchant shipping. The bill aims to ensure India’s compliance with its obligations under various international maritime treaties.
