Flash Flooding due to Cloud Burst in Uttarkashi, Rescue Operations on

At least 4 people have died and several feared missing when a flash flood struck in Dharali of Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. The flooding happened due to the cloud burst in the region.

Confirming the deaths, District Magistrate of Uttarkashi said, “A massive wave of flash flood hit the area. We are currently assessing the extent of damage to life and property.”

He added that different teams from the Indian Army, NDRF, SDRF, and ITBP have been deployed to the affected areas for rescue operations. “Teams from the Tehsil and PWD already reached the site”, he said.

For search and rescue operation ITBP  has also sent a rescue team from 12 Bn, Matli, with Comdt Sachin Kumar leading the team.

Another ITBP team, of 35 BHQ Mahidanda led by AC Manoj Rawat & DC Deepak is deployed for the operation.
