The Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney voiced optimism on Sunday that ongoing trade negotiations with the United States may yield “something constructive.”

During his visit to Vancouver, Carney reaffirmed Canada’s resilience, stating that “Canada is strong” and will continue to move forward on its own path.

His comments come as tensions remain high between the two nations following the U.S. decision to impose a 35% tariff on goods outside the USMCA.

Carney is expected to speak with U.S. President Donald Trump in the coming days, but despite recent “intense” talks, no deal has been reached yet.
