Hamas has dismissed reports suggesting it expressed willingness to disarm during ceasefire negotiations with Israel, reiterating its national and legal right to resistance against Israeli occupation.

The statement came in response to remarks reportedly made by US President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, during a meeting with relatives of Israeli captives held in Gaza.

Israeli media outlet Haaretz cited a recording where Witkoff allegedly told the families that Hamas was prepared to be demilitarised. However, Hamas categorically denied this claim, emphasizing its stance on armed resistance.

Recently Prime Minister Netanyahu at the Intelligence Directorate meeting said, “We have a job to finish: the eradication of Hamas and the return of our hostages. We are not giving up on that even for a moment. Those two goals are intertwined”.
