Authorities have suspended the annual Amarnath Yatra a week ahead of its scheduled conclusion due to damage caused by recent heavy rainfall. The pilgrimage, which began on 3 July, was to conclude on 9 August, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan.
However, officials have decided to end the yatra early to allow critical repair and maintenance work on the tracks leading to the sacred cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir.
The affected routes include the Baltal and Nunwan–Pahalgam tracks, where men and machinery are actively deployed for restoration.
