Military commanders from Thailand and Cambodia have agreed not to reinforce troops along their disputed border, following a ceasefire deal brokered in Malaysia on Monday.
Cambodian official Lim Menghour, Director-General of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, confirmed the agreement to uphold the truce, stop further troop movements, and ensure the safe return of the wounded and the deceased.
The deal comes after recent border clashes left 40 dead and displaced around 300,000 people.
As part of the ceasefire understanding, both sides will form four-member teams to address ongoing issues and maintain dialogue. There are also growing calls for international ceasefire monitoring to ensure compliance and regional stability.
