World No. 2 Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz has withdrawn from the upcoming ATP Canadian Open in Toronto, citing the need to recover from muscle issues following his defeat to Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon final.

The 22-year-old, a five-time Grand Slam champion, had been in dominant form leading up to Wimbledon, winning the Italian Open, French Open, and Queen’s Club titles. His 24-match winning streak was halted by Italian World No 1 Sinner earlier this month at the All England Club.

Alcaraz’s absence adds to a growing list of high-profile withdrawals, with Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, and Jack Draper also opting out. The Canadian Open begins on Saturday.
