In the Philippines, torrential rains intensified by Tropical Storm Wipha have caused severe flooding in several regions, including the capital Manila. Floodwaters rose to knee- and waist-deep levels, prompting overnight evacuations of residents living near rivers and waterways.
Thousands of families have taken shelter in emergency relief centres set up across the city and surrounding areas.
For the second consecutive day, schools and government offices remained closed. Several flights have also been cancelled due to the ongoing weather conditions.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and have urged residents to stay alert for further advisories.
Thailand is also experiencing heavy rainfall, strong winds, and hazardous sea conditions due to the intensified southwest monsoon and the expected landfall of Severe Tropical Storm Wipha.
The storm is likely to bring isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall across the North, Northeast, Central, and Eastern regions of the country.
Authorities have warned that the heavy downpour could result in flash floods and water overflows, especially in low-lying areas and regions near foothills.
Residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain vigilant and follow local weather advisories as the storm approaches.
