Taking a major decision, the Supreme Court has refused to stay the Uttar Pradesh government’s order mandating QR codes on food stalls, dhabas, and restaurants along the Kanwar Yatra routes. These QR codes will provide information about the shopkeeper’s name and the type of food being served.

The order was challenged in the Supreme Court, but the court declined to intervene at this stage. During the hearing, the bench observed that many people prefer not to eat at places where non-vegetarian food is also prepared, and in such cases, clear information is important.
