Ukraine’s drone attacks on Russia forced temporary shutdowns at Moscow airports on Monday, stranding thousands of passengers as flights were cancelled or delayed. Many travelers were seen waiting in long lines or sleeping on the floors of terminals.
Russia’s defence ministry reported that 117 drones were intercepted overnight, including 30 over the Moscow region. This followed a previous day’s barrage in which 172 drones were downed, with 30 over the capital area.
In response to the Ukraine’s attacks, Russia’s civil aviation authority briefly imposed flight restrictions at Moscow’s main airports overnight.
Meanwhile, Russia carried out airstrikes on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, killing at least one person and setting a school and a shop on fire, according to city officials.
Ukraine’s air force stated that Russia launched 426 drones and 24 missiles during the night. Of those, 224 were either shot down or jammed, while 203 drones vanished from radars, likely neutralized by electronic warfare.
