As the monsoon extends its influence across India, bringing heavy rain to states such as Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, the Meteorological Department has issued a seven-day warning for rain, thunderstorms, and lightning across various regions.

While intense showers are being reported in some areas, others—such as parts of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar—are experiencing irregular and comparatively lighter rainfall.

The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall over Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim until July 21. Moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is likely over the region during the next seven days.

Heavy rain is also expected over Konkan and Goa and the ghat areas of Maharashtra on July 20 and 21. Moderate rainfall is very likely at some places in these regions during the next five days.

Heavy rainfall has also been forecast for Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, and Tripura during July 19–21.

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh has been significantly affected by the ongoing 2025 monsoon season, with cumulative losses estimated at over Rs 81 thousand lakhs as of July 15, officials said on Wednesday.

The total death toll during this monsoon season from 20 June to 15 July has crossed 100 across various districts. Rain-related incidents, including landslides, flash floods, cloudbursts, drowning, lightning, electrocution, and falls from trees or steep rocks, have accounted for several of the fatalities.
