The Congress today accused Assam Chief Minister, saying the Chief Minister of the state was the most corrupt CM in the country and will definitely go to jail after the elections. The party also announced the job and education guarantee for Assam. It said that it will provide job to every youth and education to every child in the state after it forms the government there.

Addressing a Congress Workers’ meeting at Chaygaon in Assam today, the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi pointed out that he and his family were looting and robbing the state.

Kharge said that Assam has always been the stronghold of the Congress while the BJP and its ancestors had been trying since 1940s to make inroads into the state but failed continuously. Eventually, they brought in a Congressman who deserted the Congress and then they formed the government in Assam, he remarked while taking a dig at the BJP and the Assam CM.

Announcing a few guarantees for Assam, Kharge said, once the party forms government here after elections, every youth will get guaranteed job and every child will get guaranteed education. He cited the example of the states like Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana where the Congress governments have fulfilled all the guarantees.

He remarked that the Assam CM was betraying and intimidating everyone and resorting to open loot. He said, “this is a bogus government and you need to teach it a lesson”.

The Congress president condemned the Assam government for harassing people in the name of intruders. He said, there are laws to deal with the intruders, but harassment of local people will not be tolerated. Referring to the demolition of about 2,000 houses in Dubri, he said, once the Congress government is formed after elections all these houses will be reconstructed by the government.

Addressing the meeting, Rahul Gandhi lashed out at the Assam Chief Minister, saying he was the most corrupt Chief Minister in the country. He said, soon after the elections, he will be seen in jail and nobody can save him from going to jail, not even Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Rahul Gandhi observed that the Chief Minister considers himself to be the “king” of Assam. But, at the same time, he added, fear is clearly visible on his face as he knows that the corruption he and his family are indulging in, will soon be exposed and he will be held to account and thrown into jail.

Asserting that the Congress is set to sweep the next Assembly elections in Assam, Rahul Gandhi said the youth, the farmers, the people belonging to all faiths will do that job and teach the Assam Chief Minister a lesson.

He said the Congress has set up a new team and congratulated the newly appointed PCC president Gaurav Gogoi and his team for taking the charge.

Gandhi said the ECI was no longer performing its duty, but working for the BJP. He pointed out how the BJP manipulated the Maharashtra elections through addition of nearly one crore extra voters within just four months. He said, when the Congress party asked for electoral rolls, the ECI refused.

The senior Congress leader said, now the BJP and the ECI are now attempting to do the same thing in Bihar in a different way by trying to delete the names of voters belonging to weaker sections and those they (the BJP) believe are Congress and the RJD supporters.

He cautioned the workers and leaders in Assam to be alert against such machinations by the BJP and the ECI and urged them to ensure that such things don’t happen there.

Congress general secretary organisation KC Venugopal, general secretary in charge of Assam Jitendra Singh, PCC president Gaurav Gogoi, Leader of Opposition in Assam Assembly Debabrata Saikia and others were also present in the meeting.
