Residents from six villages in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir are facing with a growing monkey menace that has led to widespread crop destruction and safety concerns. The worst-hit areas include Ahatmulla, Chekreshipora, Arampora, Ahamsharief, Panar, Bilal Colony, and Chiternaar.

According to locals, monkeys have been raiding orchards, damaging crops, and even entering houses in search of food, creating fear among residents. Several incidents of monkey attacks on children have also been reported in recent weeks, heightening community anxiety.

Despite repeated appeals to the Wildlife Department, villagers allege no effective measures have been taken so far to address the situation. The affected communities are urging authorities to implement immediate control measures to protect their livelihoods and ensure public safety.
