The U.S. Army installed barbed wire along the top of the border wall with Mexico on Monday, aiming to strengthen security measures.
Soldiers were seen deploying the wire near Ciudad Juarez, located across from El Paso, Texas. This action follows a similar move in February when U.S. Marines added barbed wire to steel columns of the border wall in Tijuana, near the California border.
The Hope Border Institute criticized the deployment, warning that it poses risks to migrants and border communities, and signals a harsh stance on immigration enforcement.
The organization urged the adoption of humane and lawful immigration processes, advocating for safer, cost-effective alternatives that align with U.S. legal and humanitarian values.
